Ash walked by the pond his mind going a million miles an hour as he watched the beautiful pond sparkle. His fur seemed to be on fire as he walked along. He was a demon in an angels world and his eyes shifted as if something caught his mind but he was back to his walk. His eyes were tired from lack of sleep and scar lay along his chest from a fight. He had come to the goddesses lake to finally relax to allow his body to just give in.The sort of blue/white glow coming off the lake caused the Male fox to drop to his belly and sigh.He allowed his golden eyes to slowly move across the lake, the embers within flashing. His fur waved with the water, flames on the bank as the moon began to rise setting the lake a glow.He watched the beautiful lake glow and disappear behind his lids.A dark peaceful silence took over the male as his mind still wondered
He slept peacefully in the grass and soon woke to the sound of splashing and a cool feeling on his paws. He jumped back with a low growl, yellow eyes burning for the unknown noise. When the male saw nothing he relaxed, his mind plaid a trick on him again. He chuckled to himself and sat with his tail wrapped around his feet.He had a small rat in his jaws the small critter had made the mistake of walking a little to close to the male fox and Ash could not pass up the chance. His ears swiveled as he listened for friend or foe and he smiled to himself as he lay and finished his meal.

✾ I'M WAKING UP I FEEL IT IN MY BONES the entity of great proportions walked with equally great care, every step measured and slow as to not disturb the guests upon her pelt. her golden fur was nearly invisible due to the moss that coated nearly every underside surface on her body, as well as several portions of her form that were only partially exposed to sunlight. it was fortunate that she was a goddess of this realm--otherwise she would have had to ditch the plants and focus more on survival. having ample powers to defend herself with was useful when she was quite interested in being a good host to her less-than-intelligent subjects.
her conscience reached out, sensing a creature with higher function and complexity than the protists, plants, insects, and small prey that inhabited the area. almost immediately that doe goddess' verdant coating fell away, its pieces dissolving into thin air before hitting the ground and a ripple of earth-colored hue cascading across the planes of her pelt to give her the plain appearance and presence akin to that of a normal doe. it was here that she allowed herself to step from the treeline and into view of anyone who may be at the pond that had so graciously taken her namesake. she walked quietly, pleased with herself at having concocted this alternate form but a little downed by the fact that it had taken her so long to do so. it was quite a dandy tool: there was practically no way to guess that she was the goddess of the forest under such a guise, and it was endlessly useful for discerning the true nature of those that she encountered. not to mention it was also ridiculously fun at times.
her neck craned above the growth and she spied the creature she had identified earlier with ease, picking out the fiery pelt among the cool colors of the pond's greenery and liquid blues. the lass set her path to a course that would set her a few feet down the bank from the canine-related predator. steps remained gentle but purposeful as she approached the waters, and as she pushed past the reeds and freed a small area of the water from the protection of the lily pads to drink, her wide, chocolate eyes flashed upwards and every single fiber of muscle in her body froze as she acted out the natural response of stunned prey in the face of an unexpected predator. it was here that she noticed a detail that she had previously missed: the individual was fast asleep.
slowly but surely estreya allowed her mortal-appearing form to relax and lap up the water, but her optics never left the lithe creature in case he should awake. a slight streak of mischief infecting her conscience, dipped her muzzle into the water and jerked it forcefully in his direction, sending some of the liquid at his paws. even as his muscles tensed to spring awake and reply to this external stimuli she was withdrawing into the cover of the tall reeds that edged the pond, using a bit of her magic to influence them to freeze in the spot they were in.
a growl tore its way into her sensitive ears but it was soon cooled by a soothing chuckle. estreya tipped her ears back and single cloven hoof suspended by a spindly cervidae leg extended, only to drop into the water as she stepped forth from her refuge. the visibility of her large eyes flickered as she fluttered her eyelashes, looking about until her gaze returned innocently to the fox. the goddess-in-disguise tilted her head at the carnivore, large ears like fans as she batted away a choice fly or two with them. the line of her lips curved upwards to flash a friendly smile at the fellow resident of the forest, and estreya decided that she should finally speak.
"oh, hello there!" she greeted socially, a slight giggle escaping her. "did i wake you? i didn't mean to."

He had been relaxing enjoying the quiet but then the sight of a doe caught the fire of the males eyes.He allowed his body to stay calm as he shifted through his mind.Every part of him screamed to move, to leave this spot for he would never be able to not think here. When he was having one of his moments the fox looked as if he were fighting with himself. It was sort of funny to watch the odd large male fight with the mind that never let him relax. He finally sighed at nothing and watched the doe glide through the water closer to him.His eyes never left her now not even shifting a little as she made almost no splash though her legs did leave and enter the water again. He shifted now his coat dancing along the grass like a wild fire.He had got his name due to the flame color of his coat. His mother would tell him he would leave Ashes in his path one day.The male was born from hate and rape and grew up in a demons world never really liking the ways yet always trying to earn his young mothers love.
When the doe spoke it ripped him from his old life and back to the moment he had just found himself in."No mam its not your fault I have been awoken it is my own mind that fools me".The male always tried to tell the truth though sometime it was better to lie though now was not one of those times. His eyes shifted away from her for a moment the golden flame bleeding into the sun as he whipped his large fluffy tail at a fly. They shifted back and he bowed his head like he did with all the animals he met weather he would eat them or not."My name is Ash its nice to meet you".He brought his head up once more to look the doe in the eyes and then he did what none of the animals had seen him do since he got here.He flashed the most amazing smile a fox could hold and moved back so the doe could ascend to land and dry her fur. "Now if you don't mind me asking what is your name so i do not have to call you what you are not".His voice was deep and like a prince as he watched the doe with burning yellow/gold eyes and a mind full of ideas none could know about.

✾ I'M WAKING UP I FEEL IT IN MY BONES lids lowered slowly, carefully, and then raised once more. estreya's dial rotated once more, allowing her to observe the predator before her with one watchful optic, her previously lazy blink the only portion of her body that had relaxed. the rest of her stance was stiff, wary, and ready to flee at a moment's notice despite her verbally friendly attitude. she truly knew that she had nothing to fear from this creature whether he was hostile or not, but were she a creature of mortality and simplicity, she would keep her guard up around any predator--especially a fox. though she was larger and a swift kick to the skull should take it out, betrayal from those that one trusted struck deeper than any wound. besides, to a being that lacked immortality, a broken ankle could be deadly with the threat of a larger, more dangerous carnivore always present. even something as simple as infection could end a deer's life as quickly as any set of jaws.
after an apology, the canine creature politely introduced himself, locking his gaze tightly with hers with a smile, and then withdrew further into the land, apparently offering a spot on the dry earth for her to occupy. satellite audits angled backwards, head raising and path of sight surveying her surroundings carefully in the projected natural mannerisms of a wary doe searching for some sort of ambush. being a main staple for a majority of the forest's large predators resulted in most members of the cervidae family being excruciatingly cautious and relatively paranoid of anything that ate meat, and estreya, in her endeavor to appear as an average whitetail, took this into account.
her seemingly indecisive musings were interrupted as the young male inquired about her identity. the fae's lips were about to part to give her true name when she reconsidered. the lass plucked the first name that embraced her memory and sent it his way. "the name's lyra, and don't wear it out!" she replied cheerfully. as she introduced this form to him she seemed to relax immensely, and without second thought waded through the waters of her pond to join him on his portion of dry earth. the lass shook out her fur, sending some water his direction. "oops, sorry," she exclaimed, unsure as to if the moisture had hit him or not, but apologizing anyway for not thinking the action through.
it was then that she suddenly took note of the pond brimming with life around her when it had been relatively docile before her arrival. though she could easily fool nearly anyone in the forest when it came to seeming normal, the lesser beings of the body of water still felt her power--something that relative intelligence and lack of faith had long ago removed from the animals higher up on the food chain. they couldn't pinpoint the source of the aura, but they felt it, and it drove them to raucous lengths. frogs that had before been silence now chortled in conflicting sounds, pausing only to snap at the dragonflies that were now thick in the air. fish sleeping on the pond's bed had surfaced, flopping out of the water at every chance they got.
estreya feinted surprise and wonderment at all of the activity in the water and in the air, head flicking back and forth constantly as she followed the movements of a few choice individuals. "wow, look at them! i wonder what's going on!" she exclaimed convincingly, awe thick in her genuinely surprised-sounding timbre. within the secret confines of her own mind estreya was chuckling. it seemed as if she were a decent actor afterall.
