Crunch!.... crunch...
Jynette's large black ears flicked back and she quickly turned her head. A mouse tail was draping out the side of her jaw and she quickly slurped it down along with the remains of her lunch. The young red fox hesitated for just a moment before slipping off into the deeper areas of the forest. Jynette had no intention of lingering in one spot for long and become someone elses lunch. One never new what sorts of creatures were out there, lurking about in the dark.
Since coming to this land Jynette had seen things that she still couldn't believe. Why, she'd swear she was going crazy if she hadn't heard stories of enchanted realms and believed them so strongly as a cub. That said though...beautiful as it was, she was ready to leave and move on, after all-
Oh what a lovely pond! Jynette froze halfway through a bush as the crystal blue pool came into view. It almost seemed to glow in the dim light of the forest. Gingerly, she crept out towards the lake, nose to the ground sniffing for trouble.
Crrrrroooak.....splach
Oh....frog legs....Jynette licked her lips, those sounded pretty good. Though, how on earth was she going to get to them? Bulbous eyes surfaced and gapped at her but she wasn't sure she wanted to go after them. Something about this place felt very enchanted, who knew what might happen to her if she leaped into the pond, regardless if the bullfrog was doing alright. She didn't want to sprout antlers or some such madness.
Crrrroooooak....

Feel free to slap me; I meant to get to this a long time ago. D:> __________________ The sun shining down on her copper fur felt nice. Marroone and the others had left her alone for most of the day, doing whatever they did when they didn't bother Tara—which really could've have been much, to be honest—and she was resting on a full tummy. Just an hour earlier she had feasted on the leftovers of a wolf—a free meal, it was, and the fox wasn't one to be wasteful. The deer carcass just laying there had taunted her until she finally decided to trot over and snack on it.
By the way, she now knew just how delicious their precious meats were. What a fine meal they made! She would have to hunt deer more often.
A long croak caused her liquid gold eyes crack open. She had settled near the edge of a pond, which didn't seen like such a fabulous idea anymore; if those frog were going to keep up with their noises, she'd have to drift elsewhere. With a yawn, Tara lifted her head to see the amphibian, and she snorted. She wanted to snap at it to get it to shut up, but that what be a waste of breath. It would just ignore her and keep with its senseless croaking.
A new scent reached her nose, and disk-shaped ears swiveled about to find the source. Amber orbs glanced around until they saw a lithe figure on the other side of the lake. ... So... familiar... It looked... like her, almost. She rose a brow before... before things got weird.
She could've sworn the other fox turned to see her, and Tara's jaw hung open. ... E... E-Engeltruden? she thought in disbelief. His eyes bore into hers as she watched, dumbstruck, too shocked to move. That is, until her brother spoke. "Tarükya," Engel called, and in an instant the girl blinked and ran full-speed for her lost sibling. Joy she thought she could never feel again filled her and tingled through her body as she sprinted for her beloved brother, and her mouth was still agape with a smile. "Engel!" she yapped back, nearing the other canine, but she stopped abruptly as she came within a meter of the other.
... No... This... It wasn't Engeltruden. Tara's eyes widened in horror as the vision of Engel disappeared and revealed the real entity she saw.
It wasn't Engel. It wasn't even close.
... But... But it didn't make sense. She had seen him. She knew she had. Though this was a fox, it didn't even look like her sibling. She was smaller, her face was narrower. And besides, she was alive. Engel was dead. He had been dead for a long time.
"... I... thought you were someone else," she mumbled quietly to the fellow fox to explain her actions, and she looked away. No, she couldn't cry. Not in front of another. She had mourned for him far too much already. And she couldn't show weakness to another. Not ever, not ever.

ooc: Again so sorry for the wait! ic:
Jynette's eyes narrowed as she decided that no matter what that frog was going to be hers. Her body slinked down and she was about to start stalking when she caught the scent of another fox in the air. Oh no she was not sharing! Her hackles raised as she tried to pin the scent's direction down. Jynette caught sight of another female fox who was… staring at her… in a very, very strange way.
Jynette's defenses dropped for a minute as she tried to figure out what was going on. Did she know this fox? She certainly didn't look all that familiar. "Um… Hi?"
In an instance the strange fox started running right for her! "WHOA! Hey back off! I'm not Engel!" Her hackles raised and she growled. Even though the other vixen didn't seem to be acting aggressive it was still freaking Jynette out. She was a fairly patient fox but something about this stranger was amiss. Apparently she thought Jynette was someone named Engel and the vixen felt a bit miffed at being mistaken for a male.
"I…thought you were someone else."
The other vixen seemed to realize her mistake and Jynette immediately felt bad for the other and her defenses quickly dropped though her ears remained back and her heart still raced. Her head tilted to the side as the other looked away. Oh dear…
"Sorry… I know that can be frustrating to mistake someone for another. I'm Jynette, what's your name?"
CROOOOOOAAAAKKKK!
Jynette shot a glare at the frog. In this case maybe she could share, it certainly was a fat, oversize lump of sweet meat. "You ever hunt frogs?"
