The time had come for a gathering. The time had come for the forest to fall into a forced peace, a time for all creatures to gather and pray and, if their prayers were sincere enough, they would receive gifts. However, the massive black wolf had different plans for this gathering rather than just handing out gifts and blessings. The Forest was growing. There were many newcomers here... Estreya had been quite a busy doe, indeed. The beast chuckled, his figure appearing seemingly from out of nowhere though he remained half hidden in the shadow of the White Oak. His eyes, ice blue, swirling, nothing more than spiritual energy, blinked slowly as he swung his large skull first one way and then the other. Hm. None had gathered as of yet, and it seemed he had, for once, beaten Estreya here. Huh. Guess there was a first time for everything. Enjoying a quiet laugh for a moment, the lupine then slowly brought his head back and let out a loud, powerful, and demanding howl. It was no ordinary howl, for he was no ordinary wolf, and any who disobeyed his call would ruin this moment for every creature of The Forest.

She had been nearby, curiously examining the fertile earth for roots, sprouts, or anything else she could appease her appetite with. Though her body instinctively craved blood and meat, the woman ignored this feeling and concentrated on finding something of the plant origin to consume. Great nostrils snuffed eagerly, stirring up dirt and dust as she continued her search. A smile played across her lips as sensitive senses noted the presence of one of her favorites, wild onions. Five inch long claws dug carefully at the dirt, revealing the small grove of purple onions. The bear's smile grew wider by a few inches as she settled onto her rump and consumed the four onions. Though it was just a snack for the behemoth woman, it was enough to satisfy her for the time being.
This was a good thing, for just as she'd chewed the last of the onions and recovered the hole she'd dug, a loud and compelling howl rang out. Rounded ears twitched toward the sound as it tapered off in an almost eerie note. The she-bear shifted from her seated position and moved toward the source of the howl, noting a strange being. It was a wolf, massive and black. His eyes were the brightest, most alluring blue she'd ever seen. Persephone came near and felt the compelling urge to bow to him, but did not for fear of looking strange. Instead, she dipped her head respectfully and stopped a few yards away from him, but in plain view.
"Hello there, I heard your call. My name is Persephone, but you can call me Percy.

The arctic canine had been going about his daily business before the bowl broke forth into the air—he had gotten a bite to eat, as well as taken a little nap in the meadow he so dearly loved, and he had a pleasant chat with one of the squirrels in the tree canopy just moments ago. The small rodent on the limbs had thrown an acorn at Boromir's feet to get his attention, and, startled, the wolf acknowledged him. The squirrel then proceeded to bombard him with questions, some ridiculous, some insightful. Boromir was quite happy to provide as many answers as he could to the curious little thing, though. He missed the daily conversations with others.
Now, however, he was off in search of the call that reached his satellite ears, and he quickly saw that he was making his way to the White Oak. Ah, was it one of those gatherings they had every now and then? He had been to a few in the past, perhaps all they had since he had been there. A smile tugged his lips apart as he saw the massive lupine in the distance, and another beast not far from him. Was it a wolf as well? No, he soon saw that it wasn't a wolf, but a bear. Hmm, that was interesting.
Boromir slowed his trot into a walk as be drew near to the two, his tail curling slightly and his ears folding against his skull. He took a place by the bear, his eyes briefly glancing to her form before turning back to the lupine. Rottair, the one of evil. Not pure evil, no, but he served as a balancing force in the Forest. His eyes, much brighter and full of life—or death, really—were intriguing, and Boromir's own chilled orbs fell from them and to the dirt as his head bowed, just as the bear had. Distantly he wondered if the other wolf remembered him, or even knew of him, for he seemed to have talked with Rottair... maybe when he first arrived? It was a while back, that was for sure. "Yes, I, too, heard the call," Boromir said, his eyes not lifting, "I am Boromir."

Having been merely grazing nearby, it was fairly loud and easy to pinpoint. Large ears flickered into the wind, the source of the sound clear. There was to be a gathering. Those were not something that Varaki took lightly, and so he stopped what he had been doing and made his way towards the sound.
The musk of many other creatures was thick as he walked calmly towards the source. For now, he could smell a wolf and bear, but he was sure there would be others soon. He was the first deer here, it seemed... intriguing. It was a good thing that he would be safe from these predators during the gathering at the white oak. This was one of the few times where he would feel safe enough to converse with them if it was necessary... Lowering his head as he neared the center, he paused and let his legs extend and flatten, putting his entire front into a graceful bow. He did not dare look the wolf god in the eyes; as a sign of respect, he kept them fixed on the wolf's paws instead. "Your call has been heeded. I am Varaki." His voice was low, as if he was afraid of ruining the peace and sanctity of the forest's quiet aura.

He waited patiently, his chest rising and falling with each unneeded breath that he took, ears pricked and eyes gazing steadily into the misty depths of The Forest. He wondered where Estreya was, usually she was the first to arrive at these meetings, but perhaps she was busy today. No matter, he would allow the creatures to be made aware of his presence, he would welcome them all to their home. He grinned, equine sized body stretching out as he yawned. A bear, Percy he believed her nickname was, was the first to arrive and then came Boromir, Varaki... Yes, he knew all of their names, knew the names of all the creatures that called this place home. He chuckled as they bowed, long legs carrying him forward, proud and almost arrogant. "Just three to arrive? Tsk, tsk. I was hoping to see more of you. Best spread the word to the others that when I call, they come. Is that understood?" His tone was commanding but not angry. Nothing bad would happen to those that did not come... but if they did not come, there was not a chance that anything good would happen, either.
