(Kynn) "Don't take life too seriously. You'll never escape it alive anyway."
The morning was new. Dew lay lightly on the newly born flowers that were just now opening their petals to face the sun with hope of finding nourishment in its light. Aphids were humming softly as they set to work on the leaves of the trees, a few preying on the larva of some smaller insect that had no purpose other than to feed the hungry and annoy the large. The meadow was quiet, peaceful, welcoming. A doe burdened with this year’s fawn cautiously picked her way through the long grass. Her body was tense, eyes and ears alert. Her tail twitched with nervousness. A predator was near, and she could smell it. She warily plucked at the stems of grass as she made her way across the opening, heading for the wood on the other side. Her fawn, on the other hand, was not laden with the fearfulness his mother possessed. For he was frolicking around as the grass tickled his belly, staining his white underside a soft green from the watered down foliage. He bounced around his mother, running around in hopes of finding a companion to play with. The yearling bound away from the only protection he had, racing with glee toward the woodland on the right of the meadow. Such luck. The fawn ignored the doe when she called to him, trying to draw him back to harbor him in her safety. Puh, what a boring thing to do! Who wants to stay glued to their mother’s hip all the time? No one with a sense of adventure as this young deer did. The wolf was watching the scene play out intently. His brown eyes boring holes into the fawn, which was completely oblivious to the predator. So unconscious, in fact, that he was straying farther from his mother and closer to the hiding threat. Kynn dare not breathe at this point. Hunting was beginning to become far too easy, especially with arrogant children that didn’t mind ignoring their mother’s warnings of the monsters that go bump in the night. And the wolf that was carefully moving into position was just one of those monsters. Boo. While the fawn was distracted with something particularly interesting in a bush nearby, Kynn burst from his hiding place. In less than five strides, the wolf moved with power and finesse to the fawn that was just now turning to run. It was too late, for the canine barreled into the yearling’s side, knocking him off balance and sending him in a tumbling flailing ball of hooves. Kynn sank his deep rooted teeth into the fawn’s haunch when it tried to stand and escape. It belted out a loud, wailing scream for its mother, who could only painfully watch from a distance as her child was killed. With a rough jerk of his head, Kynn tore flesh from the fawn when he tugged it back to the ground. It continued to bleat and scream with pain and horror until the wolf clamped his jaw tight on the young deer’s windpipe. No longer did it shriek in agony, it now gasped, gargled and thrashed about as its life slowly and painfully slipped away. Too bad, Mom. Kynn thought as he gnashed his teeth together to crush the windpipe and silence the deer. His eyes remained locked on the doe as she paced anxiously, as if waiting for the wolf to just let her child go. Kynn had buried his paws into the soil to get an anchor grip as the fawn gradually stopped squirming. His ears flattened to his head and he cut loose a muffled snarl when the doe took a few hesitant steps toward him. It was enough to send her running in the opposite direction, heartbroken and utterly alone. Though he had not chased down the fawn, Kynn panted into its neck as he kept his hold. He remained on the ground beside the body which was dwarfed by his size until his breathing calmed and his heart stopped pumping useless adrenaline through his veins. It was then did he loosen his jaws from the kill and lick away the blood on his nose. He felt his chest swell with pride as he looked out into the meadow, almost wishing someone had seen his successful hunt. Usually he was bothered with incoordination when he hunted, often tripping or running into something when he chased down big game. And while this deer was not necessarily considered ‘big’ at this stage in life, it was still a prize to him. The wolf stood and positioned himself at the fawn’s belly, eagerly tearing into the bit of haunch he had torn while he took down the deer. He tugged and twisted and pulled his share of the kill until his hunger was sated. The light from the sun finally broke over the tops of the trees, casting an orange light across the new scene, highlighting the blood that now covered the ground and stained the wolves’ paws and face. He had only devoured a fraction of the deer when a pungent scent hit his nose. Immediately did his hackles erect and his ears stood firm as he turned and looked. With the spicy coppery scent of blood on his fur, he had a hard time distinguishing the odor of the stranger, and so he peered around him warily. Who was watching him?

Ooc: sry for the rambling i didnt know where to start or really how to end. Hope you like it though
'Today was a good day' Baylinx thought as she cruised through the forests canopy, she paused a moment to reminisce upon the mornings events.
She had awoken in a good mood, had a wonderful breakfast of blue-jay, took a quick swim in Estreya's pond and bathed in the rays of the early morning sun. The hum of a katydid broke Baylinx out of her slumber, rolling over in the lush grass she focused her weary eyes on the tinny creature who dared to interrupted her sleep. It's fine antenna twitched as it felt the vibration of her movement and abruptly quieted its song. Quite satisfied Baylinx closed her eyes once again, half in a dream she heard the little creatures song once again. Fully awake now she sprung up like a loosened coil and pounced on the perpetrator, tensing she slowly lifted her big fluffy paws to see if she was successful. Once pressure had been lifted the little rascal wiggled out between her paws and leaped at her face, which thus sent her careening backwards in an indignant spluttering ball of fur. Recovering the slightest amount of her composure Baylinx set upon vengeance, stalking wide eyed around the edges of the pond, she jumped and zigzagged after the katydid. Looking quite like she had gone crazed, with dead set eyes, poofed feather-duster looking tail and spewing profanity the entire time.
Baylinx's whole attention was set on catching the varmint and bringing it in for justice. She didn't notice the loose pebbles, slipping she tumbled sidelong into the pond with a loud splash, after a moment of complete surprise she dragged herself out of the water. Drenched and quite defeated she shook off the excess water once done she turned her back to Estreya's pond and in one bound landed heavily but skillfully onto a tree limb near by. Seething just the slightest upon the restarted almost mocking song of the katydid, Baylinx spurred herself onwards in search of less trifling company.
Snapping back into herself Baylinx snickered at her own foolishness, she was just glad no one had seen her. Setting off again she was no long then 15 minutes out before she came upon a large clearing in the woods. Stopping at the tree line she peered down upon the lush waving grass and vibrant flowers, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath letting the sweet yet earthy fragrance fill her lungs. After a moments blissful indulgence Baylinx opened her eyes and scanned the Arkose Meadow once again, for indeed that's were her feet had and stomach had lead her to. Over on the far side of the meadow she saw a spot of brown dart in-between the trees and a few moments later a doe hesitantly stepped out into the clearing followed by her brazened fawn. In a few moments the fawn had left his mothers side and was now frolicking around in the lush grass without a care in the world, not heading his mothers warning calls. The foolish youngling strayed close to the woods edge bending down to lick the dew off of the blades of grass. Tilting her head Baylinx considered the little one with quiet anticipation, she loved watching new life they were full of surprises. No sooner had she gotten comfortable on her perch and settled in to watch the young fawns excited galavanting, when the bushes not too far away shook violently and a huge wolf burst through them. In the half a heartbeat the giant ball of burly fur barreled into the side of the just now realized fawn. A few heart beats later the wolfs query was subdued, the doe scared off with a gruff growl, and after a few moments the struggle was over.
Now stark quiet without the bleating calls of the fawn, the only other audible noise besides the whistling wind between the trees, was the wolf scarfing down his well earned meal. She kinda felt bad for the doe, it must be hard seeing your child get taken down by the 'big bad wolf' snickering a little as she thought about her unspoken quip. Suddenly the wind changed, rustling her still fairely damp fur as it passed by, blowing in the direction of the now alert wolf. Swiveling his head back and forth flinging blood from his still dripping gowls, he looked for her. Smiling a chechire grin Baylinx bit back the urge to comment on the wolf hilariously blood plastered face, instead she chose a more civil route. " hail mister wolf, my name is Baylinx, but u can call me linx for short" she said with a bit of enthusiasm from her perch on a low hung tree branch. High enough So he couldn't reach her but low enough so he could see her, at least now that she open her mouth anyways " And that was a wonderful display of predator versus pray if I do say so myself" she smartly added trying to lighten the mood seeing as in essence she did kinda drop into his hunting zone, at least for now. With a flick of her tail she added absentmindedly to the situation at hand "how long have you been here for, ive been here my entire life, its a realy neat place with alot of unique characters. And lots of unexplained going on's, have you seen any of these creatures, I'v seen a few. They're pretty interesting once you get to know them, but normally no one really sticks around that long..." takeing a short pause Baylinx realize she had been rambling, and gave a sheepish smile at the baffled wolf, with a twinkle in her eye she said " i'm sorry, pardon me, go ahead if you have something to say"

(Kynn) "Don't take life too seriously. You'll never escape it alive anyway."
Kynn's throat clenched and slickened with saliva, his inner demons thirsting for more blood. While it was in his nature to lap up the excess, delicious red liquid, he was at a halt. There was someone here, and they had been watching him the entire time. He chastised himself. How could he be so blind, well, so scentless, that he couldn’t differentiate the smell of predator and prey? The wolf’s chest rumbled with a throaty growl, and his ears stood erect as he assumed a dominant position over his kill. There was no way some half pint was going to swoop in and go for a nibble. He was imagining having a glorious battle with some bear, and was startled out of his vision by a feminine voice from above him. Above him? The wolf tilted his head towards the sky and saw the feline. He gave her a look of confusion, scrunching half his face to show it. Mister wolf? Where the hell was she raised? He hadn’t been called ‘mister’ in years, and that was by a pup.
Stepping back so he didn’t have to crane his neck as far, he remained silent as she commented him on his hunt. Involuntarily, he stood a bit taller, his subconscious swelling with pride. So she had seen his kill. Wonderful! While he wanted to burst out and tell her all about what he was feeling when he drained the life from the fawn, he kept a stoic, sober face. What was she here for? And why had she been watching him purposefully? Kynn stuck his tongue out and scraped it against his teeth, savoring the coppery taste of new blood. It covered his muzzle and dripped down his chest and onto his paws. Why, yes, he was definitely a monster that haunted the children’s dreams. He opened his red slicked jaw to speak, but the cat suddenly burst out in an uncontrollable fit of nonsense. Kynn let another look of confusion flicker in his eyes, but it quickly shifted to annoyance and he half-heartedly bared his teeth at her for a fraction of a second. While she continued to ramble like a mindless pup, he went back and tore muscle from the fawn’s shoulder. It slid warmly down his throat and sat heavy in his belly, a sure sign that he was getting full. But alas, to wolves, there is practically no such thing as ‘full’.
He gobbled down another bite when the cat, known as Baylinx, apologized for her rambling and then prompted him to speak. “As one would say, cat,” He began, turning to face her as he ripped off another strip of flesh. He then purposefully spoke with the meat slinging down from either side of his mouth. “It’s impolite to talk with your mouth full.” But, since such a thick slice was tucked between his jaws, it sounded more like, ‘Itz impoligh to tall wiff your mouff full.’ With that said he turned his back on her and continued his meal. Kynn hid a smirk as he tugged at more warm meat. He wanted to eat more, to rub it in her face that he had something to eat and she didn’t, but his stomach suddenly reached capacity. His belly felt as though it would burst, and so he nudged it aside for now. His insides felt warm, and his body was content. It was now, he turned back around to glance up at the feline. “How long have you been there, hmm? I have to say, it’s a bit odd—if not creepy— to be stared at while enjoying breakfast.” He let a toothy grin cross his face before plopping down on his rump and licking around his chest and paws. Gah, blood was sooo good! He didn’t know why herbivores didn’t try it. Brown eyes flickering back up to the cat, he lifted his muzzle from his tongue bath to say, “My name is Kynn; incredibly handsome irresistible ladies’ man.” The wolf smirked, “And yes, I do insist you call me by my full name.”

Baylinx watched the wolfs expression turn from open to annoyed at her ramblings, either way she didn't really care she loved to talk. Though she wasn't to keen on making an enemy, she'd rather make friends, that said she made a mental check not to ramble so with this newcomer. As She was pondering this over the smell from the fresh kill wafted up to her making her stomach roll and reminded her why she came here in the first place. Licking her chops as the wolf tore a few more pieces from the fawn, she gazed around the field. From her vantage point she could see the entire field, and with her keen eyes she could pick out the slightest movement. Alas there was naught, the wolf had made sure of that when he had taken down the brazened fawn. Everything was to scared to come out now, turning her attention back to the wolf. She laughed a little as he contradicted himself by speaking with his mouth full making a spectacle of himself.
After turning back to his kill and wolfing down a few more pieces of deer, he turned to her once again. This time accusingg her of being a stalker. "Excuse me, but this meadow is for everyone, and i came to it just as you have done, to round up some grub" Baylinx said with a sassy flick of her tail, though his comment didn't jostle her at all she just liked being dramatic at times. " And therefore i just happened to come upon you while in action. And what a show it was, if i hadn'tt come in after you I might have had a mouse or two to munch on before hand" She sighed heavy heartedly at the rethought of her missed lunch and how long before the little critters would take to come back out of their hidey holes. Oh well she mentally shrugged no use crying over spilled milk. After a good cleaning the wolf looked back at her and told her a long winded self imposed name that she couldn't help but giggle at. " Well, well I think I will just call you Kynn" she said with another uncontrolledd snort, for he still had blood on his face and snout, making him look slightly out of sorts "And besides it would be impracticale if i were to call for you at a distance, so yes i do believe just Kynn will do quite well" she said with a reassuredd nod.
On a off hand note she added "How long have you been here, and how did you come to be here" she concluded by resting her chin on her fluffy paws and stareing at him intently.

(Kynn) "Don't take life too seriously. You'll never escape it alive anyway."
Kynn rolled his shoulders at her answer. “I never said that I owned this place.” He said, nodding his head as if to punctuate his claim. He gave his muzzle another sweep of his long tongue, twitching his ears as Baylinx continued to speak. He had given her a good show? At the compliment he sat a bit taller, prouder, and planted a smirk on his lips. “Well, I do have excellent timing, don’t I?” He asked with a bit of a teasing tone. The wolf paused and knit his eyebrows together a moment. Mice? Sure, mice were a nice snack, but why would someone eat them for lunch? They weren’t that filling. Throwing the thought aside carelessly, he was spacing out a bit until the cat above him began to giggle. Kynn turned his attention back to her and tilted his head to the side, flexing the muscles in his paws. “I thought I said to call me by my fully name.” He said with a huff, rolling back over his tail and flopping onto his side next to the half devoured fawn.
“Just because you’ll call for me, cat, doesn’t mean I’ll return the favor.” He said with an extended yawn, flicking his tail off his legs. “I could be busy, possibly sleeping. And I don’t think I like you enough to choose you over sleep.” He said with a grin, rubbing his face on the green grass. It ultimately severed the blades and crushed them but the smell of the earth was something Kynn had always enjoyed. And besides, it tickled his skin. The wolf exhaled a labored breath and squinted his eyes against the sun that broke through the bare parts of the trees. “I’ve been here a while. A few years, give or take.” He said with closed eyes. He pondered the second half of her question. Pfft, he didn’t know. He was born around this area, and just lived here without the safety and protection of his birth pack. While he desperately craved the companionship of other wolves, he wasn’t the type to seek out others. Rather he’d let them come to him. “I suppose I came to this particular meadow in search of a good meal. I don’t live here though.” The wolf said, sliding a passing glance to movement out towards the opening. There was a moose and an elk conversing, and by the looks of it, the moose wasn’t too happy. Odd, typically he saw moose and elk stay around their own species, it wasn’t often he saw them together, friends or not. “Any what about you, cat?” Kynn asked, rolling his eyes up to the tree limb again. He noticed he was making a habit of calling her cat, rather then by her name. “How did you come about these lands? Birthed or traveled?”
While he had no particular interest in knowing her answer, he felt it would be a bit rude to just cut off mid conversation and go for a nap. Though Kynn really wasn’t much for manners, he didn’t want to make any enemies right off the bat. In fact, Baylinx was the first animal he had met within the last few weeks that cared to have a conversation with him. Well, she was the only predator out of that selection. And as they say, prey mingles with prey, and the predators dive in together. The wolf suppressed a yawn and while listening to her answer, went to licking the spicy blood off the pads of his paws. If she waited around long enough, she’d end up enjoying a portion of the kill. Kynn was wasteful by nature, and with his belly this full, he wouldn’t have to worry about catching anything within the next few days. He smiled inwardly as he imagined all of the sleep he’d be getting. Ahh, that would be divine.

Birds were chirping and a light dew misted the meadow that lay before the cat who stretched himself languidly along the branch of an oak tree. His eyes were half opened and he paused for a moment before yawning. "Ugh…." Jaegar sighed and scratched his shoulder. It had been a couple weeks since he'd wandered into this damnable forest and as he'd travelled the vegetation and the animals got stranger and stranger and now he lingered on the edge of a meadow. The jaguarundi rarely ever saw expanses of open space like this and when he did it almost always meant trouble. At the same time though he was ready to move on in his travels and the quickest way would be right through the meadow. He'd spent a fair amount of time on the forest floor but even so he wasn't looking forward to creeping through this open terra.
Jaegar shimmied down the tree to the ground below. Taking a few tentative steps forward the cat sighed. Part of him thought it would be safer to navigate his way through the forest and around the meadow but another knew he'd end up getting lost again. This forest did things to his senses and played with his head in a way no other forest had. It was like he'd walked into the Bermuda triangle of woodlands and no matter what he tried he could not seem to find his way out again.
HA! Jaegar laughed. NO way was this forest keeping him here. Whatever crazy mystic mumbo jumbo was going on he'd find a way out of it. He always did. Besides he had a gal waiting back home for him…the lovely Samara. For a moment he almost got lost in thoughts of her loveliness before the squeal of a dying animal caught his attention. The smell of blood started wafting into the air and Jaegar realized he was getting kind of hungry. Perhaps he could scavenge of the kill?
Bounding forward the sleek feline slipped through the grass following his nose. It wasn't long before he came up on a curious sight. A dead deer lay in the grass and near the kill rested a canine of some sort… probably some sort of wolf but he'd never seen a maneless one before. He recognized the other cat as a margay and she seemed to be talking with the large canine. Oh no, oh no, was she crazy? She could totally be eaten….though… maybe the wolf was full on deer and so was leaving the cat be. His ears flicked forward and stalked closer. Maybe these two would have some valuable information?
Taking a deep breath the ebony cat slunk closer. "Well, I see someone's been having quite a bit of luck when it comes to the spoils of hunting." His eyes switched from the canine to the Margay and with a michevious grin he bowed a little. "Milady" addressing both the cat spoke, "I hope I'm not interrupting but I was wondering… do either of you live here and if so, how the hell do I get out?"

The margays golden eyes lit up at the wolf's sarcastic but truthful words, who knows after this meeting they may never see each-other again. As her stomach softly gurgled, she hoped if they did it wouldn't be around her lunch time. Her eyes flicked over to Kynns kill, and her innards did another flip as the aromatic tang of fresh blood wafted up to her. Mmmm she quietly murmured to herself as the now sated wolf rolled un worriedly in the grass. He looked so much like a pup at that moment, eyes all glossy and a 'it can't get any better then this' grin on his face. For a moment she wondered what it would be like being a wolf, but the thought trickled away just as fast as it came up, for her true want was to be able to soar through the skies like the birds. A mischievous grin played across her face as she thought about the startled expressions on her feathered friends faces when she took up pursuit of them in their own backyard.
As her daydream slowly let loose of her Kynns words drifted back to her, he'd been here for two years and by the tones in his voice he seemed to miss it back home. Well like it or not he was stuck here, just like she was, Baylinx remember slightly how she frantically tried to find her way back home, to now avail mind you but she still tried. After a while she got into the grove of living here that now she couldn't remember a thing of what it was like back home. It was like the forest seeped into every fiber of your being re-writing the very essence of who you were and ever would be, till all that's left is you and The Forest.
Either way Baylinx thought as she languidly stretched, at least she was still breathing and it mattered not weather she was here or there as long as she was alive. Focusing back onto the wolf as he asked her weather she was born here or traveled she realized that he had been calling her cat this entire time, and just as she was about to make a caustic come back a new sound teased at her ears. Twitching, she followed the sound, and much to her surprise a weasel strode to them. Well at a better look, it was clear this new face was actually a cat with features of the pesky rodent.
A few seconds later after entering the clearing the new comer addressed Kynn and herself. Commenting on the wolfs kill, smirking she knew that this new complement would most definitely inflate the wolfs ego, just like her two previously stated ones did. But she wasn't expecting, weasel cat cat to be such a gentlemen. As her ears perked up and eyes shown a deeper gold at being addressed as milady "Well i do dare say that a new face is much welcomed and refreshing, and seeing as your question goes along with Kynns i don't see your presence as intrusive" she intoned regally, blinking slowly then donning a grin as to show she was being the willful dramatic she could be. "I myself was not born here but happened upon The Forest, much like the two of you probably have" she said glancing at the both of them "But I've come to terms with this mystic place, for no there is no leaving once you enter The Forest" Baylinx intoned with her own trace of sadness, quickly gone as her gaze came back to rest on the new ebony cats open questioning face. And in a more joking lightened tone "Unless you're willing to let Kynn snuff your existence" she said with a shoulders shrug in his direction "there's no hope in leaving this place, but don't fret" she added "there are a whole bunch of exciting creatures here and i bet you will find your own niche in The Forest"
