Expanded Character Guide
01. Characters have to be realistic when you first submit your biography. Please stay as realistic as possible. If you're joining with a deer, for example, make the fur brown and the eyes black. If you're joining with a predator such as a wolf, make the colors natural. a.) new! An exception to this rule is if you already own unused potions or items that you'd like to use on a new character. You may add them to the bio and make descriptions as you would normally.
02. After you join and start role-playing you can change your character's appearance by finding or buying items and potions. There is a list of all the available items in the Potions & Items thread. Some are available only by buying them, others only by finding them, and others by gaining achievements. You can find them at random in threads or if one of the gods gives them to you.
03. What to do once you find an item? Reply to the Potions & Items thread along with a link to the thread where you found the item. A staff member will accept your claim, then you can simply edit your character's biography with the added details. If your character found an item that gives it cool looking horns, add that to her/his biography.
04.Regarding immortality. Characters can only become immortal by drinking the Immortality Potion. Once this has happened, their aging process freezes. A fawn can appear to be any normal fawn, but it could actually be 9 years old! a.) Characters who are immortal can still die by being killed, falling from heights, etc, but not from aging. b.) new! Characters who do die will be brought back by the gods as glowing white spirits who cannot change their appearances any further. They will also have the extra power to be invisible at will. The NPC Gordlum is an example.
05.Regarding "Tainted" characters. A tainted character is one who has consumed the Tainted Potion. Characters that drink this potion become the living dead. They no longer need to eat, cannot have offspring, and their bodies become decomposed over time until bones remain. Tainted characters cannot die since technically they are already dead. a.) Characters' bodies must gradually "decompose". It is up to the role-player how fast, but try to be realistic. Eventually only bones should remain, but it is fine to pause decomposition if you'd like a more "zombie like" appearance. b.) As stated, "Tainted" characters cannot breed since they're dead. c.) "Tainted" characters are in no way superior to other characters. If anything, they should be weaker since they're no longer living. Keep this in mind if battles occur. The good thing about being dead, however, is that no matter how much force is used against the tainted character, he or she cannot die! d.) Characters that do get in fights or get ripped apart by predators have the ability to reconstruct themselves. Their wounds will heal in a sense, and if limbs went missing, they will grow back. The "new" parts will still look very much dead like before, but this is an ability allowed. e.) Undead/tainted characters do still have souls, they're just trapped in a dead body.
06. Almost any forest animal you can think of is allowed. If it lives in a forest, it's allowed! Spaces for predators and other species besides deer will be limited though, since this is a deer RPG so we want more deer characters. (:
