ooc: hey! ^^ I'm just gonna jump right into the part where they find the potions and stuff if you don't mind. Then we can rp their reactions and stuff out and see if anyone will join our thread!
ps. for any wanting to reply please let Sem first! Lorrin and Iluq are traveling together. ^^ also, we're role playing when they find their potions and stuff that we bought, so yeah haha
----
It had been a few days now since Lorrin and Iluq left the safety of the pond. Thus far, they still hadn't even so much as smelled another deer, much less seen one. The doe wondered how big this place was. The trees never seemed to end, as if this forest was perpetual. Lorrin wanted so badly to turn back and go to the pond, but she didn't raise not one word to Iluq for fear of being an annoyance, or worse, being told to go it alone.
So Lorrin would trail silently behind him most of the time, when conversation would die out. Even if she did want to return to the pond, she did enjoy the sightseeing. The girl was almost accustomed to how the birds, squirrels, and other small animals looked. She even spotted a completely black raccoon with white tail rings just the other day.
The thought warmed her, and she looked ahead to see if the forest had ended yet. It hadn't, but beyond them lay huge and tiny stones alike, scattered all across the forest floor. "Oh, Iluq! I thought we would never see anything besides these trees!" She shouted, excitement welling up in her voice. Lorrin didn't even take into consideration that predators could be hiding among the outcrop.
Something shiny caught her eye, and she trotted the short distance to a moss covered stone. There were two glass bottles next to each other, with a small red mushroom in front of them. They were laid out perfectly, as if someone took the time and care to make sure their positioning looked beautiful. One container was filled with a black substance and had green fumes wafting from it. The other container had a brown and green substance and substantially looked safer.
Lorrin was quite thirsty from their trek, but she wasn't about to just down a strange looking liquid. She also knew the only creatures capable of making containers like these were humans. She looked to Iluq, asking "Should we? Maybe one of us can test one out first." She said, uncertainty very apparent in her voice. By "one of us", she really meant and hoped he would. Iluq looked like a brave guy, so maybe he would take her suggestion after all.

ooc;;
fine by me ^^ mebbe i can come back to this post later and edit it with a nice table too :B

The days that had passed hardly seemed to faze Iluq, any. His kin was use to traveling vast distances from their original lands; always on the constant move, looking for food and water, and a good place to gather mates and keep their population up. Why, even the babes that were born on the go were up and on their feet the moment they could master their balance, and up and running after just a short few hours.
The days that he and Lorrin traveled did not bother him, and certainly were not dull. Such...fascinating things turned out to be awaiting them; some animals that resembled plants, and plants that resembled animals - insects large and small, of varying colours, even outside of their species.
Some smaller critters were not as they appeared; a rabbit could have wings, or a bird could spout teeth and strange red eyes. So strange...Iluq wondered how any of those things even came to be! Certainly there must have been some sort of magic stirred up around there...But he knew not.
The idle conversation that stretched between himself and Lorrin was another thing that Iluq also found enjoyable, other than the strange creatures and such beautiful scenery. She proved to be a good companion, as he had thought, and oftentimes spoke up in moments where the reindeer had forgotten that she was even there; a good reminder to himself that he was not alone, and he would always look back to her with a gentle smile.
A short yawn escaped him, this day, however, and eyes blinked softly when Lorrin suddenly spoke up - ears going to twist back in order to hear her better, while he gazed forward, and smiled at the new scenery ahead. Even if it were just a bunch of rough rocks, large and small, it was indeed a good change from the trees and usual foliage they had been around the last few days.
"Indeed so...Though, a word of caution; be wary of the possibility of predators laying in wait.." The bull would speak up, clearing his throat a bit as he did. His voice was slightly rough, but they hardly came across any bodies of water to drink from, other than the small creeks here and there. But he ignored it, and went to walk over to Lorrin, finally spying the things that she had also seen.
Bottles? And one of those strange mushrooms...But the bottles. Those were new. And strange - coloured with liquids that differed far from the usual water and ice he was use to seeing. Eyes narrowed at the black concoction in particular; this one fascinated him the most. Such a midnight black, and with a green bit of mist coming from it, it seemed. He stared at it for a long while, trying to analyze it, study it, figure out what it was.
No creature could have made these; well, no animal creature, that was. Humans were the ones that used these bottles. Used them to gather and store things. Water, foods, reindeer blood...Ugh, he shivered at the thought, before perking up a bit as Lorrin spoke.
Test one out? Iluq looked from the doe back to that black liquid again. Well...He was a bit parched...His throat could use a little something to ease up the dryness. He cleared it once more, before nodding. "Of course..Though it does seem strange that these would just be..laying about." The male would murmur, before going ahead, and leaning down to grasp the blackened bottle by it's neck with his teeth, and pull it into his mouth a bit. He tilted his massive head back, then, allowing for the black liquid to slowly ooze into his mouth, and down his throat.
Better to down that one than the other; it seemed much..kinder than the black liquid. And such was proven when Iluq finally got the last drop of it into his maw, and attempted to swallow it down. The stuff was like a sticky ink, or tar, refusing to simply slide down his throat as water would.
No, it chose to paint it black, instead, and there was a slight...burning sensation to it, as well. The bottle dropped from his maw, and the reindeer coughed rather harshly for a few moments, making a rather bitter face as he slowly was able to get it down, letting one last cough leave him before he shook his head.
"Ugh...That did not taste well at all.." He would complain with a grunt. And not only did it taste bad, and burn his throat, but now he could feel his stomach tightening up a bit. He wouldn't mention it, however, and instead blinked softly, shaking his head once more. Well...It was done and over with, now. And aside from the mild side effects...He seemed fine. His tail flicked.
"Go on...I trust that that bottle is much better than the one I just took, haha. And I'm sure that mushroom would prove to be a good snack for you, mm?"

"Okay!" Lorrin said, responding to Iluq's comment about watching for predators. That would be nice, wouldn't it? Just as they're finally reaching a place different from the continuous trees, it'd be her luck to get eaten by a mountain lion or some such creature.
As the girl examined the bottles, Iluq walked beside her to inspect them as well. She nodded in agreement when he spoke of these strange items simply laying here. She had to wonder, who put these out? Who made them? Usually it was very easy to know if humans were in an area. Humans were, simply put, messy creatures. They left their scent and their odd creations everywhere. Surely this was a sign, was it not? She couldn't smell any human scent on the bottles though. Odd.
Iluq grabbed the bottle with the black, vile looking substance in it, and began to drink it down. As she watched, the "liquid" turned out to look more like a thick substance. She knew not what it could be, as she'd never seen such a thing before. When he was done his face turned up into a grimace and he began to cough horribly. It scared the waiting female for a moment, and she rushed to his side. "Are you alright?!" her concerned voice questioned. She didn't know what she'd do if he happened to just drop dead here and now.
Thankfully the coughing fit seemed to have subsided, and now it was Lorrin's turn to test out the other two objects. With Iluq persuading her on, she went ahead, first taking the bottle by her teeth. She leaned her head back and watched as the "liquid" slid forward. Once she had it all in her mouth she swallowed before she would change her mind. "Uck. It tastes fine, sort of like grass and dirt, but it's so slimey!" She laughed, trying to bring a little light to their situation. She decided to go ahead and eat the mushroom. It looked the most normal of everything.
Just as she finished it, she felt a weird tingling in her tail. After a few seconds, it felt more like her tail was being stretched and pulled painfully. Her hind legs involuntarily kicked from behind her. Well, it wasn't a predator on her rump. "Ah! It hurts! What's happening!?" she cried, turning her head to the source of the pain. Her eyes widened as she took in the sight.
Her once fluffy black and white tail had grown almost two more feet, and it was still going. She dropped to the ground, shock overwhelming her. She didn't notice it, but her fur had started to change colors as well.

Lorrin's concerns over him were met with a slight smile, and a gentle chuckle. He would survive, no doubt...At least, he hoped. That stuff did not taste good, nor did it settle well in his belly. No, not at all, and it felt like it was spreading; his head was starting to hurt, too, and his vision blurred up every now and then..And he felt...Tired. So very tired. Perhaps they could rest soon?
But he pushed aside his sudden fatigue, and eyed the doe as she gulped down the substance in the other bottle, and he grunted softly at her reaction towards it. Well, at least it tasted of earth and was slimy than tasting of death and resembling thick tar. "Well, whatever it is...it must've been better than whatever it was I had.." He mused with a light chuckle, eyes turning from the doe to look around at their surroundings.
Rocks, many rocks. Plenty of hiding places for..just about anything, really. Small birds, insects, precious plants, to larger critters, other deer, and perhaps predators. So far...it seemed clear. A slightly disappointing thought, Iluq had to admit. He'd come out here with Lorrin in hopes of finding others...Their trek was almost effortless.
Iluq was caught off guard by the female's sudden reaction towards the mushroom she had been so happily munching on, and he jumped slightly as she bucked and cried out. What was going on? Was that mushroom a bad one? Gods, he didn't suggest she eat something dangerous, did he?
But just as the male was to open his mouth and speak, he could see a sudden...change in Lorrin. Her fur it..it was changing! And her tail...It was stretching, growing outwards; long and slender, like that of a cat. Was this...Was this how the other creatures in this land came to be as they were? By...Eating these strange plants, and sipping even stranger bottles of liquid?
"You're...You're changing..!" Gods, what did that mean for him, then? Lorrin's bottle looked far more innocent than his own...What would happen to him? Curiosity and fear mixed together in his mind, and the male found himself at a loss for words, on both their situations.

He'd finally ventured from the confines of the bayou. Turns out there was far more to this forest than he'd originally calculated. His body was lined in sweat, and his tongue was stuck to the roof of his mouth, but he pressed on, knowing that somewhere up ahead there ought to be water. Turn around you fool, for all you know you're headed for a desert only to die of thirst! Go back to the bayou where you have water and food to spare. He chastised himself in his head, but his body would not allow him to turn around. This land was still strange to him, but if he explored long enough, he might be able to feel comfortable in every part of it, instead of just the bayou.
He slowed his pace as the terrain grew rocky, some sort of outcrop jutting upward in front of him. Treading carefully for fear of falling and breaking a limb, the great russet beast pressed on. What is this, some sort of stone mountain? He slowed to a complete halt on a stone large enough to hold his entire frame. Eyes set on the side of his head scanned all around him. This was the perfect place for predators, and even though Ryker was hardly afraid of them, he still wasn't sure what kind of creatures might lurk in this strange land. He snorted, tail flicking behind him as he continued to survey the terrain.
Inhaling deeply, his nostrils caught scent of others. Ryker's brow furrowed slightly, but he was in no mood to turn and go back now. He'd come this far already. Striding forward carefully, Ryker moved around a particularly large boulder and noted the presence of two other deer. One was a whitetail, a doe, and the other was a reindeer. For once it wasn't a red deer he was running into! The doe was also a welcome relief, for he'd not seen anyone of the female persuasion since he'd arrived here. I was beginning to wonder if this was a place for bachelors only.
Ryker had missed the part of the show where they'd consumed their items, and had only arrived after the changes were taking place. The only thing he really noticed a change in was the doe. Her tail was somehow morphing into that of a felines'. Ryker's brow furrowed as he remained where he stood, fairly certain that neither of them had noticed his presence yet. He watched her tail grow and grow, narrowing and elongating perfectly into a feline tail. He snorted, perplexed with the situation, and took a few steps forward to reveal himself, lathered in a light coating of sweat.
"Excuse me.. what's happening to you?"
It was unlike him to step into a conversation, normally he was avoiding them at all costs. However, he had been feeling strange lately, and if this female was enduring such a physical change, perhaps she could explain about this forest and the effects it had on the living. He stepped a few more yards forward, and as his right front hoof hit the ground for the last time, a small spark ignited a few dry leaves beneath it. A small flame erupted from the spark, and lingered for a minute before dying out.
Ryker snorted and shifted backwards, setting off another small spark with his left front hoof. This one, however, did not ignite. His eyes widened as he brought his gaze back up to the two in front of him.
"What is going on here!?"

Lorrin almost didn't register Iluq's words. "You're changing!" he said. Changing, changing, changing... But into what? She didn't want to know. She didn't want any of this to be happening! This beautiful, enthralling forest had turned into her worst nightmare, it seemed.
Luckily, after a few minutes, the pain died down into more of a light throbbing, as if the new bones were settling into their new places. Her fur had changed rapidly; a lot faster than the new tail which was now growing into a furry tip. Her shock had subsided, and she rose from where she'd fallen minutes earlier. Just in time too, since another creature was emerging from the foliage.
Lorrin looked to see what it could be. A predator? Her new emerald colored eyes denounced that thought, thank goodness. The newcomer was a red deer. Not of her species or Iluq's, but this was good. There were other deer! He was also another stag, but she thought nothing of it. There had to be other females around. Lorrin was here and female, after all.
He'd asked what was happening to her, and quite frankly, Lorrin wasn't sure herself. It wasn't hard to put two and two together though, and she came up with a conclusion. "That potion... and the mushroom. They changed me I think. No, I'm sure they did. Iluq did anything happen to you?" she asked, but when she turned to look him over, she couldn't see anything different with him. He looked untouched.
It was strange, but then again their potions were different. Different colors, different smells, tastes... and he didn't eat the mushroom. Maybe Iluq had simply drank a bad potion. Could they spoil?
Lorrin was quickly snapped out of her thoughts when a spark seemed to come from nowhere. It frightened her, and she drew away from the stranger. It looked as if it came from his direction. The new male also looked surprised, and stepped back. When he did, he seemed to set off another spark. He bellowed a question to the two watching.
"Calm down, did you eat or drink anything weird?" Funny coming from her, telling another to calm down when she'd just been in complete shock! She was still quite rattled from this whole experience, but helping this new deer would definitely calm her. She had a nurturing, motherly side to her, after all.

Iluq couldn't quite grasp the situation at hand right away - the sudden fatigue that had washed over him was starting to grow heavy, and his eyes felt like they were drying out, like if he just closed them for a moment, they would feel better. His entire body felt that way, actually; dully aching and feeling suddenly weak. That potion..it definitely wasn't good.
His ears flickered, and eyes dully flicked over to spot another bulky being making their way over; male by the scent of it, and just slightly older than himself, from what he could gather.
His voice spoke up, and seemed to echo in Iluq's head, causing the reindeer to flinch. Lorrin's response chimed in soon after, and her explanation seemed...reasonable. Which is..probably why he felt as he did.
The doe asked if anything had happened to him - though before the male could open his maw and response, a bright flicker caught his eye, when that other stag went to take a step forward. Sparks, light flame.
Iluq took a step back, himself, though he did make sure that he stayed before Lorrin. He might have felt tired, and weak, and sick, but he would still play defender. After all, what came from the other male's mouth was definitely something that seemed to resound in the air.
What was happening here? To them? Lorrin sprouted a feline tail, and her fur and eyes changed completely. He felt like he was..well, quite literally, dying, and now this red deer was sparking flame with simple steps of his hooves. What was going on?
Lorrin's question came rather calmly, and Iluq glanced back at her before nodding towards the male. "We..W-We had found...bottles.." He would say slowly, his voice sounding dry, and raspy. "D-Drank from them..." Eyes closed, as a sudden pain struck him in the head, and the reindeer buckled down; letting his body fall to his knees, and eventually onto his side.
Tired...He was just..so tired. He just needed to sleep. Just needed a little nap, that was all. It might have been a completely inappropriate time and place to do such, but..he felt as if he didn't have the energy to go on, and find a safer place.
Everything hurt, and ached. A light nap would make him feel better; that, and perhaps a few herbs to quell the aches of his insides. That was, if he could find them in this strange place.
A rough barrage of coughs racked his frame, and the reindeer let out a shaky sigh. What was happening indeed.

The two exchanged words, but none of it was caught by his own ears, because he was too focused on the fire emitting from his hooves every time he took a step. His body felt hot, and the sweat was breaking out worse than it ever had all over his frame. Ryker's eyes were rolling like a wild stallion, and he tossed his head this way and that. Nothing like this had ever happened to him, or anyone else he knew except these two. What was this foreign magic in this forest?
He snorted, perplexed by the situation. As he did so, a puff of what he could only describe as smoke rushed from his nostrils and dissipated slowly into the air. Just then, the doe spoke, commanding him to calm down. Ryker shot a glare at her but then quickly softened. He needed her help. With a sigh he took a hesitant step forward, this time no spark came. She questioned him, asking if he had eaten or drank anything strange. The stag racked his mind.. remembering back to when he'd started feeling strange. He had drank something odd, something in a little container. It had been very smooth going down, and was pleasant to the tastebuds. He'd only assumed it was safe. Why would anyone bottle something harmful?
"I, I did. A while back, in a tiny container. It was sweet and tangy.. I thought it was harmless."
The fragmented sentences only served to display his frenzied state. He wanted more than anything to go home and be freed of this perplexing forest and its strange inhabitants. At home there were wolves, hoards of them - in fact - but he'd take wolves over this insanity any day. Ryker waited for an explanation, his eyes roving over the strangely colored doe and her equally unique tail. His gaze then fell upon her male companion, who seemed to have undergone very little physical change at all. Ryker hadn't changed physically either, only on the inside.
"You there, how do you feel?"
Ryker was hoping the male was having the same perpetual hot flashes that he was, at least that would mean he was not alone in this madness.

After she'd told him to calm down, the red stag did just that. Ah, thank goodness! She had hope he wouldn't be one of those stubborn, tough ones. She met far too many in her so far short life.
Lorrin quickly began to look for symptoms to see what could be going on here. There were the sparks almost every time he walked. She'd also noticed thin wisps of smoke came from his nostrils minutes before. Also, he was drenched in sweat as if he was running a severe fever.
He confirmed he drank something sweet from a container. Lorrin's had tasted like grass and soil, she remembered, not sweet. His was definitely different. He didn't seem to have any physical changes, aside from sweating so much.
She racked her brain, thinking of what he could've possibly acquired here. "Maybe... maybe you've drank something that will turn you into fire? No, that sounds stupid. Maybe you have the ability now to create fire?" she said, the latter sounding much more believable. Hopefully she didn't freak him out with the first possibility.
All of a sudden her companion, Iluq, had fallen to his side. Lorrin nearly became hysterical as she rushed to him, lowering her head to touch his shoulder. "Iluq! What's wrong?! Are you okay?!" she cried, disbelief in her voice. How did a large, strong looking male like him just cave in like his? It had to be that black potion.
She hoped it wouldn't kill him. What she didn't know is that, in a way, it would. Eventually Iluq would be very different from every creature in this forest.

Voices, voices merged, and all Iluq heard was a strange jumble of both Lorrin and the other stag as they spoke to him. He couldn't understand their words - not now, not with this massive headache that just pounded away at his poor head. He flinched, and grit his teeth together.
He itched - he itched all over, and there was a dull ache everywhere, like he'd taken a great fall, and was bruised and broken all over the place. Damned potion...It was doing something to him - what, he didn't know - but he could feel his strength being sapped from him, and his eyes grew tired, and his mouth and throat dry.
The male let out a weak cry, and an eye slowly opened to peer at the changed doe as his shoulder was touched. He could barely feel it - it was like his body had gone almost completely numb. The only thing that told him that he was being touched was the warmth from her snout, and even that was faint enough to the point where he almost ignored that, and brushed it off as something else.
Tired..he was just so tired. So sore, so numb, and..strangely cold. He coughed again, before moving his head a bit. He just needed a nap, was all. A little rest. "R-Rest.." His deep voice would rasp out, dry and scratchy. Dull eyes flicked over towards the stag, then.
He was spouting fire, and smoke. Lorrin grew the tail of a lion, and her colours had completely changed. And now he felt like he was dying - slowly, but dying no less. His brow furrowed, before he would grit his teeth together, and force his head to move, and pick up from the dirt. No, no..he would fight this! He was not weak - he could fight this!
A grunt flew out of his nose, and Iluq forced himself to sit up more - one hoof pressing to the harder ground, and the male tried to push himself upright, only to fall down again with a snarl. No! He had to get up! If anything, it would be to seek out a safer haven - rocks were not safe. Predators could have been anywhere, lying in wait - and with all of the strange things happening, anything could end up going wrong.
No, he just needed to keep moving, even if his body screamed for him to just lie down, and rest. Take a short nap. He couldn't, not here. In the thicker foliage, perhaps. But not here. So, he tried again, front hooves digging into the dirt to hoist his bulk up once more - and this time he did actually stand...Despite the unstable feeling of his legs. They felt so weak, and wobbly.
He let out a discomforted sound, before eyes looked back to Lorrin. His head gave a hesitant nod. "I..I-I'm..fine.." He would state softly, before looking back towards the other stag. "I...I-I just...I'm just tired.." He would sigh softly.
"Very...very tired.."

Why had he been so foolish as to think that anything in a container was safe to drink? He was angry, angry at himself, angry at this forest, and angry that he could do nothing about being in this forest. Ryker stamped his foot, causing yet another shower of sparks to sizzle and pop, illuminating his hoof for a moment before fizzling out with nothing to consume.
The doe spoke out, mentioning Ryker's confusing state. Yes the thought of him turning into fire was quite ridiculous, but creating fire.. there might be some truth to that. Ryker had been feeling as if there was a fire burning inside him.. maybe now it was trying to get out? Ryker's brow furrowed as he concentrated just then on the heat welling inside of him, concentrated so hard that as he exhaled, steam emerged from his nostrils and dissipated into the air. So he could control this, if he wanted to, if he knew how.
The man he'd questioned was crumpled on the earth in pain. Ryker hadn't even noticed. His eyes widened slightly as the doe went to the reindeer's side. The man finally staggered to his feet with rasped words, and Ryker's ears flickered back in alarm. What could all of this mean?
"I - I've got to get out of here.." He stammered, unable to stick around in this madhouse any longer. He needed to understand, to find his own way, and these other two had problems of their own. Without so much as a second glance, Ryker stumbled back the way he'd came, leaving a tiny dying flame in his wake.
Exit Ryker.
