so this place is really, really REALLY down in the dumps lately; and i plan on helping to fix that.
SO. in order to do that, i've come up with a few ideas as to get more members in/get older members to return, and to get this place back up and running like it was just a few weeks ago!
first things first - Pre-Spring Cleaning. what that means, is that myself and some of the other admins are going to go through, and remove any old/closed threads to the archives - but not only that. we will also be going through and removing inactive members from the member list, as well, and moving their characters to the archives.
Why? Because it's absolutely ridiculous to come to a site with 20+ members joined, only to find that maybe 5 or 6 of them are truly active. To me, that's highly disappointing, and bad for advertising.
All members (excluding andy and lorrin, and a few others who have explained as to why they were gone BEFORE they left) have until THE END OF THE MONTH to sign in, and start becoming active again. That's a little over TWO WEEKS. to me, that's plenty of time to punch in your user, your password, and come up with a feeble explanation as to why your inactivity has spiked over the last month.
Anyone who does not sign in at least once between now (Feb. 6th) and the end of the month (Feb. 28th) WILL BE REMOVED. Now, you may re-join the site, if you do end up getting removed, and request that your characters be moved out of the archives, but if you end up becoming inactive again, you will once again be removed, and your characters will be permanently cast into the archives, with no way of reviving them. This just makes it fair to everyone, and will help keep the inactivity down.
Cleanup will begin ASAP, so be sure to sign in when you can!
Now - getting that out of the way - let's get to the better part of the announcement! Points for Advertising!!
I figure that we need to get The Forest's name out there more; rake in new, exciting members and more characters, and popularity. And how do we do that? By advertising! So I've come up with another plan, that involves the points system we've got going on here at The Forest.
For every advertisement you do, you will be rewarded 4 points per advertisement. Say someone did 6 ads on 6 different sites, they would be rewarded with 24 points added to their point count.
Now, rules for this:
1. You may only advertise on sites that DO NOT already have our advertisement.
2. If you DO advertise on a site that DOES NOT have our advertisement already on there, then you MUST post the site name, and the link to the advertising board you posted on, so that your claim can be easily validated. For example: [ url= post your advertising link here ] Site Name [/ url]
Putting it in this form makes the site easier to access, and makes for a cleaner type than posing the site name, and then the link after that, or vice versa.
3. You MAY advertise on as many sites as you would like, but you MUST post your links in a list format, and you MUST state when you are officially DONE advertising, so that your points can be rewarded to you all at once.

And that's it! We encourage ALL members to participate in this event - and if ANYONE really contributes, and advertises on over 50 SITES you may be rewarded with the DIAMOND MUSHROOM award. Now ain't that a treat!
