The wind would ripple the overhang of foliage, a myriad of green that blanketed the heaven's from the white-eyed gaze of a black doe. Her fur bristled under the soothing, stroking fingers of the breeze. She walked slowly, trudging along, admiring her surroundings with her lash-fringed optics. Perhaps not admiring. Searching - that was a better word. Searching for something to satiate her appetite for excitement. Her keenness to cease the boredom that had befell her sometime in the night, leading to her tirelessly wandering the Bayou. She had heard tales of the stream, that once in a while, a spirit as lacking in weary as her caused the water to illuminate in ivory. To glow. She wanted to see it desperately; out of interest more than awe. And perhaps she would - if she was lucky. Or at least catch eye of something else to entertain.
Halting, the black doe who blended so poorly with the sunlight filtering through bended her head down to the waters. Her grey nose touched the cool first, sending an array of ripples splaying around her. Boredly, she began to play. Disturbing the peace with a flail of her cloven hooves, a stomp of her ebony pistons. She leapt into the water, sending fish scattering, wading through the deeper sections. When at last she emerged, sopping wet, she gave her thin fur a shake and proceeded to stretch, her eyes wild with enthusiasm. But it was quick to wane - just as soon as it had come - for she had found boredom once again.
This was not her day.

Persephone had been sitting just on the edge of the water for quite some time now. Something inside her was begging her to swipe up the many fish that kept swimming by her. They would have been easy to catch, many of them were naive enough to swim just inches from her behemoth frame. Did they not see her, the great she-bear, perched just above them? They were fools, but she didn't blame them. In all her time here - which only amounted to roughly a week - Percy had not yet come across a predator of her species. It seemed that not many bears were transported here by the gods, or if they were.. they hadn't lasted long enough for her to run across them. Either way, the fish here were not prepared for what a dangerous creature she was.
Thankfully, for their sake, she was harmless. Persephone was a sworn vegetarian, and would not harm a single scale on the frame of those fish unless she absolutely had to. And so, she continued to watch them. The fish were amusing, their bright shimmering colors darting this way and that, oblivious to the danger they would have been in had she been hungry and a carnivore. It was then, as she gazed down in the water - jaws agape - that an ashen figure burst into the bayou and disrupted her fish-watching. Percy didn't mind, however, and merely lifted her gargantuan head to get a better view of the stranger.
The ashen figure was the bodice of a doe, a melanic one. Funny, Percy had seen quite a few of these since her entrance to the forest. She tilted her head ever so slightly and then slipped into the water rather gracefully given her size. The doe appeared to think she was alone, and looked very jubilant. Percy let out a joyous bellow of greeting. She intended it to be very innocent in nature, but given her size and status as a predator, it was likely that it didn't come off that way. The woman's face broke into a toothy smile as she waded in the water and gave a short greeting. "Hello!"
ooc; I'm so sorry this is this late, I must've missed this one in my bookmarks. :c

Her black coat bristled as the wind chilled her soaked flesh, and she had just begun a slow, thorough grooming upon stepping from the water's when a voice roused her ears into a standing position. She started slightly, whirling on the obsidian mass that had called out to her. Hälla calmed upon spotting the bear, her reaction one entirely in contract to the population of the forest deer - no doubt. She seemed remarkably relaxed about the encounter, though her bright eyes trained warily across the gargantuan creature. Brow bones raised high, her black skull tilted to the side. I thought I was alone, she replied rather simply, calling from where she stood, peering at the bear in the water. Otherwise I would have asked you before you charging in. Were you hunting? Perhaps, if she distracted the bear with talk, she'd be able to keep her life.
The black doe soon found her interest aroused by the bear; peering curiously at her, in utter fascination. She had never seen a bear before. Had she? Not that she could remember; only ever heard of them. Perhaps once or twice in her youth her mother had happened upon one and ushered her quickly away, but never had she been so near. It piqued her inborn hunger for information immensely, and she was soon gaping at the black behemoth. Hälla smiled back cautiously, though her hind legs had begun to slowly back her towards the safety of the forest edge. She may have been interested, but she was not stupid. How could she trust a predator? How did she even know the creature was smiling? With all those teeth, she could have very well been priming them to sink into flesh. She could have been scowling, snarling, using them to intimidate the black doe. Still, she soon found her bright eyes netted in by those teeth. She stared at them. Why didn't deer have those? Her mind reeled.
Is this your bayou? Hälla asked politely, still casually inching back towards the woodline. There's a lot of nice fish here - not that I know much about fishing... she babbled onwards, her tail fluttering upon her rump. Maybe this bear wouldn't find taste in a rambling little doe, with little meat and far more fuzz upon her body.

The woman knew it was more likely that the doe would turn and run than embrace the greeting. Most deer were skittish by nature, even if they pretended not to be. Even bucks had flown their tail high like a flag and scampered off when she'd arrived on the scene. Why should this doe be any different? However, Percy was not one to give up trying, and so she waited patiently for the doe to react to her call. In the best attempt to look innocent, Persephone while still in the water sunk down slightly so that much of her frame (up to her chest) was covered by the bayou's calm waters. At least this way she wouldn't look quite so gargantuan.
Alas, the doe scampered off, but not entirely, as she soon stopped and looked inquisitively. Perfect, this would give Percy enough time to explain herself, if only the doe would believe her. The kind doe asked if she was hunting, Percy only presumed that she was worried she'd angered the predator. With a soft smile and gentle eyes, the woman spoke back. "Not at all, my dear, I was simply watching the fish swim by when you came in -- you did me no harm." She could tell the doe was studying her, reading her for any sign of ill-will. Persephone hardly believed she would find any besides her own physical appearance. Her body stance was very much hidden by the water, but even if it could be seen it was relaxed and composed. Her head was held calmly but confidently, and her teeth were halfway sheathed by great velvet lips, although they still could easily be seen as her jaws were hanging characteristically open.
She chucked lightly at the doe's next words. Her bayou? "Oh no, I don't believe it's anyone's right to claim this as their own.. the gods made it for all of us to share, did they not? Although, I do like spending my time here. It's peaceful.. don't you think?" She nodded her head eagerly as the doe spoke on about the fish. "They are quite lovely, I like just sitting still and watching them swim. I've learned all the neat places they like to hide." She shifted upward a bit, more of her bodice being displayed, but not quite all of it yet. She waded forward into a shallower bit of water a few yards closer to where the doe still stood. "You needn't worry, dear, I'm not interested in making a meal of you."
ooc; btw she's a brown bear <3
